The Pointer Club Championship Show
1st September 2024

Bitches

I would like to thank The Pointer Club for inviting me to judge bitches at their
Championship Show. Always an honour to judge a breed club show. I would
also like to thank the exhibitors for giving me such a lovely entry both
numerically and in quality. Grateful thanks also to me two stewards for
keeping things moving.

BITCHES
VETERAN (9,2)
1st HEWITT’s Sh Ch Droveburgh’s Miss Marple
9 year old liver/white bitch who I have always admired from the ringside. On
going over her she didn’t disappoint She has a beautiful head in correct
proportions and with lots of work. Good length of neck and correct body
shape with good depth and spring of rib. Moved well with a lashing tail to
win this class and with the agreement of my co-judge, Linda Westron, BVIS
2nd RAYNER, SPINKS & PRINGLE’s Gartarry High Society at Spinray JW.
7 year old b/w bitch who was in good hard condition. Gorgeous head and
balanced body with correct angulation. Moved with verve round the ring.
3rd STILGOE’s Alcazar Amazing Grace via Teisgol VW
MINOR PUPPY (6,1)
1st KENNEDY’s Drovesborough Hells Bells
7 month old baby who just stole my heart. What a little cracker! She’s just
right for her age. Lovely head with soft expression. Beautifully balanced with
correct angulation, good rib and length of loin. Moved well for such a baby
but with just that hint of naughtiness which I’d expect at this age. BPB and
with the agreement of my co-judge BPIS. Sure she must have a bright future!
2nd ODDIE’s Riowood Tick Tock Boom to Sharnphilly
Overall I think the Breed is in a fairly healthy state but there is one thing that
needs watched that is too much rear angulation creeping into Pointers being
shown in recent years. When The Pointer standard was written it was mainly
based on a standard for Pointers that were worked. They had to be sound to
deal with the rough terrain of the grouse moor or even the partridge field and
they knew that too much angulation could cause problems with joint, nerve
or muscle damage. Nowadays there are only a small stalwart group of
people continuing to work their Pointers but the health of the Pointer today,
be it in the field, show ring or simply galloping as a pet is just as important
and I hope that breeders today will take this on board.

Another 7 month old baby who had lots of style. Pleasing head leading into
well placed shoulders. Well bodied with good spring of rib. Moved well.
Another I’ll watch with interest
3rd GERRARD, BELL & GALLOWAY’s Riowood C’mon it’s Time for
Carmandine
PUPPY (7,1)
1st KENNEDY’s Drovesborough Hells Bells
2nd STILGOE’s Teisgol Alohomora. Lovely feminine bitch who still had good
strength of body for one so young. She has lovely head, neck and shoulders.
Good feet and well let down hocks. Moved well. Just needs a touch more
confidence to complete the picture.
3rd DUNN’s Meadowpoint Hocus Pocus
JUNIOR (8,1)
1st ODDIE’s Sharnphilly Canasta for Riowood
A strongly made bitch who is top size for me but she has lots to like about
her. She’s very stylish, has a good deep body with a lovely sweep to her
hindquarters. Nice head and shoulders. Lovely short tail which she used well
on the move.Sound, easy mover.
2nd EDMONDSON & ROBERTSHAW’s Crookrise Sunbeam.
Not as mature as my winner but lots to like about this young bitch. Loved her
overall type and balance. Strong body and good angles. She stood over her
ground well and moved with ease using her lashing tail. Beautiful rich liver
colour. I’m sure with a bit more maturity she will trouble the best.
3rd STILGOE’s Teisgol Alohomora
YEARLING (9,1)
1st NELIS’ Freebreeze Special Effects JW
O/w of super type and balance. Loved her femininity.clean neck leading into
correct shoulders. Good bone and correct feet. Moved soundly and easily on
a light step using her tail well. I think there is more too come from this young
lady as she matures.
2nd MARTIN’S Sunhouse Black T’ Square One (AI)
A different type to my winner but I loved this girl’s overall balance and
movement. Correct bone and feet. Nice head and expression. Moved well on
a free and easy stride, lashing her tail.

time! Nicely balance head. Good balance with correct angles.Good bone.
3rd FLINT’s Narcissus Pipit by Casilex
NOVICE (7,1)
1st GORDON’S Hawkfield Happy Times
Typey young bitch who was giving a lot away in maturity in her previous
class but I liked her overall style. Good body shape with lovely sweep of
stifle and well let down hocks. Good bone. Lovely short tail.
2nd DUNN’s Meadowpoint Hocus Pocus
Nicely headed bitch with a soft expression. Good depth. Nice overall

head with lots of work in it.Good angulation, bone and lovely oval feet. She
moved with drive and precision. Expertly handled.
2nd BOOTH’s Lundgarth Jubilee JW
Another nice one but she was a bit tense which spoiled her overall balance.
Lots to like about her though. Nice head and topline with a good sweep of
stifle. Well let down hocks. If she would just relax a bit and move more freely
I’m sure she would challenge the best.

1st HINTON, LUKE & LEMAN’s Fleurfield Black Caviar
Well this bitch turned out to be my star of the day! There is nothing overdone
about her from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. She’s so feminine with
a lovely head, full of work and her dark eyes give such a soft expression. She
also has neat, thin ears . Good overall body shape correct angulation! Tail set
well on. Low set hocks with good oval feet. This bitch really comes into her
own on the move though. She has a light footfall but still has great reach and
drive. She also has a lovely high head carriage and maintains her outline on

the move. Pleased to award her the CC (which I was told was her third) and
with the agreement of my co-judge RBIS
2nd DUNN’s Caithpoint Kora at Meadowpoint
A heavier made bitch in great condition Lovely head and great reach of
neck.Good depth. Moved well using her tail. Unlucky to meet 1 in such good
form.

PAMELA TIBBS (RAIGMORE)
JUDGE

The Pointer Club Championship Show
September 1st 2024

Dogs

My grateful thanks for the invitation to judge at the Club Show, and also many thanks to my efficient stewards who kept the ring running like clockwork.

Some difficult decisions on the day, where performance in an indoor ring seemed to affect some and this had to have a bearing on my choices this time around. Pointers are a galloping breed and as such keeping them fit should not be an issue, there were some exhibits that would’ve benefitted from more muscletone, and fitness will always affect movement. Feet need watching – feet are not supposed to be round, but neither are they supposed to be flat. A few eyes had that ‘staring’ appearance which ruin the soft kind expression that should be expected in a pointer. That said, I had many lovely exhibits to go over that offer much to the breed going forward and the majority of my decisions were accepted in a sporting manner.

Delighted that my co judge Mrs Pamela Tibbs agreed that the DCC should take BIS on this occasion, and we both agreed that the lovely bitch pup should be our BPIS.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)
  1. 1. Millett’s Laveto Remember When. 6 month old b/w with plenty of body and substance,  shapely on the stack with good angles. Could have a little more refinement in head but could be a developmental stage. Moved soundly and happily for one so young.

Puppy Dog (5)
  1. 1. Westaway & Eldridge’s Bradgate Yours Truly. Movement played a big part in decisions in this class. This liv/white dog won on his easy ground covering action. Well up to size, balanced enough in profile outline, pleasing head although ears could be finer, carried his tail well. Needs more width but he has time on his side to mature in his body. BPD over the MPD on his more settled action in the challenge.
  2. 2. Wilcox’s Harvestlade Fire And Ice Through Merynjen. O/W dog with an attractive head and dark eye. Well bodied all through, balanced for his age, good tail shape and length. Needs to settle in his movement.
  3. 3. Henshaw & Goodchild’s Berseydale Straight Flush With Peteshe.

Junior Dog (4,2)
  1. 1. Clinton’s Hawkfield Happy Feet at Oramiss. O/W who had an attractive head with a good dark eye, ideal size, shapely and balanced throughout with a strong topline. Could settle in front action a touch.
  2. 2. Allen & Betts’ Hawkfield Kings Ransom. O/W out of a slightly larger mould and as such needs to mature on a little yet to fill his frame. Clean in outline, stood over his ground well and an active happy mover.

Yearling (9)
  1. 1. Rose’s Navazuelas Stormcloud At Ridanflight (Imp Esp). Athletic looking b/w dog of good size and balanced shape. Typy head with dark eye. Strong in topline and well bodied, moved soundly with a ground covering gait once settled, using his tail well. Settled further still in the lineup to secure the RCC.
  2. 2.  Gerrard, Bell & Galloway’s Carmandine Oh C’mon Then JW. O/W dog with very attractive head with a melting kind expression. Mature with good substance, well bodied with a lovely forehand construction, firm in topline. Was unsettled with his changes in handler.
  3. 3. Martin’s Sunhouse I’ll Be Black (AI).

Maiden Dog (3,1)
  1. 1. Westaway & Eldgridge’s Bradgate Yours Truly.
  2. 2. Wardle’s Sunhouse All Blacks (AI). B/W shown in the best of condition. Pleasing head of good type, dark eye with kind expression, just preferred (1) in hind quarters and action at this stage, but plenty of time on his side to mature and develop.

Novice Dog (6,1)
  1. 1. Allen & Betts’ Hawkfield Kings Ransom.
  2. 2.  Westaway & Eldridge’s Bradgate Yours Truly.
  3. 3. Newcombe’s Kimifleur Hercules.

Graduate Dog (5,1)
  1. 1. Keaney’s Flinthill Hot Mail. Medium sized o/w with a pleasing head. Good substance, clean over the neck/shoulder, he was a free and active mover with a good tail carriage.
  2. 2. Isherwood’s Wilchrimane Let’s Be Frank. O/W out of a slightly larger mould. Lovely head with a sweet expression, well built all through. Was more cooperative with his handler and settled better in this class, although a little proud of his tail today.
  3. 3. Newcombe’s Kimifleur Hercules.

Post Graduate Dog (7,1)
  1. 1. Trueman’s Bradleypoint Floki. B/W dog with an attractive head and eye giving a kind expression, shapely all  through, balanced in angulation, sound honest mover. Feet a little round.
  2. 2. Keaney’s Flinthill Hot Mail.
  3. 3. Lewis’ Braithwaite Pole Position In Fallowfield.

Mid Limit Dog (3)
  1. 1. Sarrou & Hall’s Gartarry New Kid In Town. Well balanced o/w dog of handy medium size. Attractive typical head, clean over the shoulders, nice width of chest with a good amount of forechest, balanced fore and aft with a firm topline. Coat condition could be better.
  2. 2. Webb’s Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW. Another shapely well balanced o/w dog who stood over his ground well, shown in good bloom, pleasing head and went well on a good open side gait. Just preferred the feet of the winner.
  3. 3. Weaver’s Dappleline Chance For Anniezu.

Limit Dog (11,2)
  1. 1. Howe’s Wilchrimane Fratelli. Classy stylish o/w dog with a super outline. Well angulated fore and aft with good balance all through. Sweet head with fine ear leathers. Strong topline, good forechest, correct feet, active sound mover with good tailset. He was very unsettled in the challenge and gave his handler a hard time which was a great shame.
  2. 2. Adam’s Carofel Wings Of Hope JW WW23 Swiss JCH. Another stylish young o/w dog who is balanced all through and fluid on the move. Well constructed with good body and substance, no exaggerations anywhere and his movement reflected this. Just preferred the foot shape of (1).
  3. 3. Norbury, Ganney, Adams & Adams’ Fisherbloom Hey Didle Didle at Heartbury.

Open (7,1)
  1. 1. Westaway’s Sh Ch Teisgol Keep On Going Via Penwest. Athletic lemon/white dog of medium size with good substance. Well bodied and fit looking. Masculine head with kind expression. Excellent mover, was easy and efficient over the ground with good reach and drive, holding his topline with a good tail carriage. A sound honest dog who didn’t put a foot wrong today. DCC & BIS.
  2. 2. Jamieson, Macara & Blackburn-Bennett’s Sh Ch Kanix Peri Peri with Glenfinnan. Glamorous o/w from a larger mould. Excellent construction throughout and presented in lovely condition. Kind head, good type, stood over his ground well, and moved out stylishly.
  3. 3. Martin’s Sunhouse You’re Nicked.

Special Working Gundog Dog (1)
  1. 1. Henshaw & Goodchild’s Ch Sharnphilly Vice Versa With Peteshe SGWC. Medium sized dog of good type, balanced in angulation, good head with kind eye, firm in topline on the move where he went with enthusiasm and style carrying his tail well. Showing a little dewlap and coat slightly soft.
