CRITERIA FOR THE COMPILATION OF THE POINTER CLUB JUDGES LISTS
For the period 31st July 2024– 30th July 2025 (Revised Sept 2024)

The submission of a completed questionnaire does not necessarily ensure the applicant’s inclusion in the club’s lists. The lists are reviewed annually and inclusion in one year does not necessarily ensure inclusion in subsequent years.
Any change of address or telephone number should be notified to the Secretary to enable the amendment to be made at the next annual review.
Where KC exams and all seminars are claimed, certificates must be forwarded with the application.
All applications should be in hard copy, signed as a true record and dated by the applicant.
1. A1 List
For people who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed and have completed their first appointment. To have the support of the Pointer Club (KC Policy)
(To contain the applicants KC Judges Number if known and where applicable)
2. A2 List
For people who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of the Pointer Club. (KC Policy)
To have attended any Field Trial (FT) or an Open Gundog Test (GWT) for a gundog breed in the relevant sub-group. (KC Policy 01.01.2011)
3. A3 List (Breed Specialists)
To have a minimum of seven years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the Pointer Club. (KC Policy)
To have judged at one Breed Club Show or two Breed Club Supported Entry Shows.
To have judged the breed at 10 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an adequate geographical spread.
To have judged a minimum of 40 classes.
To have judged a minimum of 120 dogs.
To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
To have attended a Points of the Dog Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2005)
To have attended and passed a Stage II breed specific seminar/Breed Appreciation Day with MCE, run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances) OR to have bred/campaigned a
Sh. Ch./Ch. to its title. (KC Policy)
To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows. (KC Policy).
To attend any Field Trial or an open gundog test (GWT) for a gundog breed in the relevant sub-group. To provide a copy of the signed catalogue (KC Policy as of 01.01.2011)
3(a) A3 List (Non-Breed Specialists)
Minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in this breed) and have the support of the Pointer Club. (KC Policy)
To have judged at one Breed Club Show or two Breed Club Supported Entry Shows.
To have judged the breed at 10 Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an adequate geographical spread.
To have judged a minimum of 40 classes in this breed.
To have judged 120 dogs in this breed.
To have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
To have attended and passed a Stage II breed specific seminar/Breed Appreciation Day with MCE, run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances).
To have attended any Field Trial or an open Gundog Test (GWT) for a gundog breed in the relevant sub-group. To provide a copy of the signed catalogue. (KC Policy effective from 01.01.2011)
4. B List (Breed Specialists)
To have five years experience owning and regularly exhibiting in this breed and have the support of the Pointer Club.
To have judged 10 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs, with an acceptable geographic spread.
To have judged 36 dogs of this breed.
To have attended at least a Stage 1 breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice
4(a). B List (Non-Breed Specialists)
Minimum of five years judging experience in any one breed and to have the support of the Pointer Club.
To have judged 10 classes of this breed at a minimum of five Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with an acceptable geographic spread. (Save in exceptional circumstances)
To have judged 36 dogs of this breed.
To have attended a breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice.
5. C List (Breed Specialists)
For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the Pointer Club. (Listings would normally include people who have judged the breed at Limited and Open Shows but do not yet qualify for the B lists.)
To have attended a Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice.
5(a) C List (Non-Breed Specialists)
For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the Pointer Club. (Listings would normally include people who have judged the breed at Limited and Open Shows but do not yet qualify for the B lists.)
(1) To have attended a Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice.
Note to “C” Lists only
Judges who take appointments at open shows beyond the KC “Band D” of the Kennel Club Rules & Regulations for Pointers (i.e. 3 classes) relevant to the Club lists they appear on maybe removed from the Pointer Club List.
Those judges on the C list should have attained Kennel Club JEP Level 1 prior to accepting their first judging appointment.
NOTE TO ALL LISTS With reference to ownership and/or Stud Book numbers, The Pointer Club will award equal status to partners where joint interest is proven to the satisfaction of the Pointer Club Committee
The Pointer Club expects all judges to submit a written critique to the dog press within the time limit specified (KC Policy). Failure to do so may result in the judge’s name being removed from The Pointer Club List of Judges

Judges List as of 12/09/24
The Pointer Club are always updating the list and in that respect if anyone named on the list wishes an amendment to their details or no longer feels able to undertake judging appointments, please inform the honorary secretary
